The Lacquer Lab Novella Collection Swatches and Review

The Lacquer Lab Novella Collection

Novella is the Autumn/Winter 2014 collection from The Lacquer Lab, a collection of 5 cremes and a glitter topper in beautiful wintery hues! I have swatches of all 6 to show you today.

I love the names of the polishes in this collection, they create a sort of story in your head and as I was swatching them I did exactly that! Images of dark, smoky, old school bars, men in dapper suits and women in sequins and pearls...that sort of thing! The formula of these cremes is great, nice and pigmented and smooth to apply with a glossy finish even before top coat.

A Lady's Confession is a blood red creme, super sultry and sophisticated! I used 2 coats plus top coat.

Cigarillo is a warm caramel creme. 2 coats plus top coat

Lover at The Ritz is a deep burgundy wine shade (difficult to describe actually!) another dark and sophisticated shade from this collection. 2 coats plus top coat

The Wonderous is a soft pink creme with a touch of grey - just beautiful, this is one of my favourites. I used 3 thin coats plus top coat.

Storyteller is my favourite from this collection, it's just a perfect shade of wintery blue. 2 coats plus top coat

You can add a bejewelled finish to any of the shades with Pocket Full of Jewels, a sparkling mix of gold and rose gold glitter, with some iridescent flakie shards scattered throughout. This is 2 coats over The Wonderous, a perfect combination!

  2. Allie, thanks for these pretty swatches, as always! I enjoy these muted, not super-dark, shades. I think they'd be great for after the holidays, when we're tired of those vampy colors but not quite ready for spring pastels.
