Silver and Blue Tips

I messed my blog up again (only for the 400th time, no big deal) I think I fixed everything, but if you see something that looks wrong or something that doesn't work please let me know. Sigh!

Today I did a simple tip design using Barry M polishes.

To do this I just used some striping tape, with Barry M Cyan Blue and Silver Foil Effects. I sealed it with NYC top coat. My nails are nude except for the top coat, please excuse the slight staining!

I love doing tips and I'm going to start doing this style more often!

Sinful Colors Winterberry - Swatches

I have completely fallen off the nail art train recently. I'm not feeling inspired at all. Hopefully it won't last because I like posting nail art much more than swatches. I'm determined to sit down later and do something! Where do you turn for inspiration when you have a block?

This is Winterberry from Sinful Colors. Research tells me it's from the Destination America collection. It's a grape/grey metallic, packed with shimmer.

The formula was a bit of a pain, it was quite thick and could have used some thinner. I used three coats. I loved it though and it's unique in my stash so far.

H&M Bella's Choice - Swatches

Finally found another H&M that sells cosmetics, and this one had a much better selection. I really like H&M polishes, the formula is generally good (though not as good as Barry M, which at £2.99 are the same price) and I love the square bottles.

This is called Bella's Choice, a bright summery turquoise creme. It's a pretty good dupe of China Glaze For Audrey at first glance, but this leans more towards green than FA does, I think.

Formula wasn't as good as some other H&M polishes. It was a bit thick and could have done with thinning. I used two thick coats and top coat.

I really need something to thin out some of my older polishes that have become gloopy, any recommendations?

Pink and Silver Gradient

Just a quick post today.

I did this gradient using 2 coats of Barry M Shocking Pink, then using a make-up sponge (foundation wedge, whatever you want to call them!) I sponged on 2 layers of Barry M Silver Foil Effects (you can see Sammy's tutorial for that here) I finished with NYC topcoat.

Voilà! Simple but effective.

Barry M Cyan Blue - Swatches (Revisited)

Here's another re-swatch. I'm doing it for some of my favourite colours if I've already swatched it before back when my pictures and nails were a bit ugly!

This is, so far, my favourite blue from my stash. I can't get enough of it and wear it all the time.

It's so so BLUE (no kidding) and makes me want to go swimming. I love the smooth creme finish. I used two coats and top coat in my pictures.

It has the typical smooth application of Barry M polishes, and is perfectly opaque in two coats. I actually managed one coat on my little finger! It may look like just a blue, but I have nothing else like this in my stash.

Illamasqua Muse - Swatches

I don't know what's wrong with my camera lately, but the quality of my close up pictures has gone right down and I can't figure out why. Extremely annoying. Sorry if my pictures look bad. :(

This is Muse from Illamasqua. This is described on the Illamasqua website as deep teal blue, which is pretty accurate, though I'd say more blue than teal?

Illamasqua Muse

It has a very glossy, creme finish. Application was smooth, but maybe a touch thicker than other Illamasqua I've tried and it seemed to dry very quickly. It's highly pigmented though and is opaque in 2 coats, maybe even 1 if you have skills (which I do not!)

See what I mean about the quality of the close ups? :(

It's a really gorgeous colour and I was happy to get this in a sale for £7!

Tribal 2.0

Tribal is one of my favourite designs for nails. It might be pretty common these days but the never ending possibilities keep it fresh. Having said that, this is only the second time I've posted tribal nails (you can see my first ones here).

I started with a base of Topshop Threadbare on my index, ring and little finger, and a base of Rimmel Sunshine on my middle finger. I then painted on various chunks of other colours over the base colours (the turquoise is Topshop Green Room).

I used a tiny nail art brush and some black acrylic paint to paint on the little details, and finished with a top coat.

Tribal is so much easier than it looks and even if you make mistakes it usually just ends up looking like part of the design!

New York Summer Hot Purple - Swatches

I'm finally feeling better today! Thank you to those who commented on my last post! The anti-biotics have finally kicked in. I've still got a very sore throat but my tonsils are no longer the size of golf balls...for which I am eternally grateful :P

I'm still not really in the mood for sitting down to do some nail art so I have a swatch today. I got this in my swap with Melissa, I'd never heard of New York Summer before.

Hot Purple is a gorgeous jelly polish (I barely own any jellies, I need to rectify this) that is perhaps more purple than my pictures suggest. In some lights it looks more indigo.

I used 4 coats to build it up. The visible nail line you can see in my pictures is not at all visible in real life! The formula was wonderful and glided on easily, it also dried pretty fast.

I'd definitely be open to getting more of these polishes!

Also, Happy 4th of July to those who are celebrating!! :) I wish I could come and watch some fireworks.

Apologies!

Just a quick post from my phone to say sorry for a lack of posts lately. I've got septic tonsilitis and it's not pretty :( I'm feeling majorly unwell. I haven't done my nails in over a week...shock horror!

I'll be back soon as I can!
