Models Own HyperGel Spring 2015 Swatches and Review

Press Sample

Models Own have added 10 fresh new shades to their popular HyperGel line for Spring, and I have 5 shades to share with you today!

Ok, I LOVE Spring pastels. Actually, more than love, I'd say I'm a bit obsessed. The pastel shades in this new release are making me crave slightly warmer weather, daffodils and bunny rabbits! ;)

Tropical Green - I was very excited about this one and the colour IS amazing, but the formula is too sheer for my liking; it could have done with being much more pigmented. I used 4 coats in order to cover my nail line. Despite needing so many coats, it manages to be quite easy to apply.

Purple Orchid - beautifully bright purple, reminiscent of the Pantone 2014 colour of the year. A more pigmented formula than Tropical Green, but I still needed 3 coats to even the colour out.

Long Beach Peach - slightly-brighter-than-pastel peach. The formula was a bit streaky here, I had issues evening it out - if you have the same trouble I'd recommend using a big ol' slick of top coat to help even out the surface. I used 3 coats

Paradise Pink - IN LOVE with this colour! Palest dusty pink with a strong lilac tone, it's just gorgeous. Again the formula was a bit streaky, but better than Long Beach Peach. 3 coats

Powder Blue - pastel baby blue. A better formula than the other pastels in the release, but still in need of 3 coats to even it out.

There are some beautiful colours here, though they're slightly let down by the formulas, which isn't really an issue I've come across with the HyperGel range before. As I said earlier, if you're having trouble with streakiness, apply a thick coat of top coat and it should help to even it out.

  3. Niiice! I am yet to swatch them but they look good! I found the formula of the first hypergels little disappointing as well, I'll see how I feel about these ones later

  5. Long Beach Peach is a color I get crazy about :) It's only too bad that the formula is so difficult... Beautiful swatches. I love looking at them on your beautiful, long nails.

  7. It's a pitty polishes were either sheer or streaky, 'cause the polish shades are beautiful!! Pastels are always so... ah... peaceful and 'cosy' - know what I mean?

ps. I always kinda wondered what Hypergel stands for? Is it the formula? The ingredients? Help! :)

  11. I definitely like the pastels best. Which is weird cos I was excited for the brights but I'm just not into the semi-sheer finish (or 4 coats eeeeeep!) It's just a shame the formula was a let down, when they describe these as gels I always imagine them being really pigmented. Did you use the Hypergel top coat? x
