Maybelline Bleached Neons - Sun Flare, Coral Heat and Chic Chartreuse

Maybelline Bleached Neon Collection

I have 3 shades from the much-talked-about Bleached Neons collection from Maybelline to show you today - Sun Flare, Coral Heat and Chic Chartreuse.

Usually, where possible, I prefer to show whole collections, but some of these colours are so elusive! There are 7 in total, but I only managed to find 3 in my local Boots (probably a blessing since they're on a 3 for 2 offer at the moment!)

I expected these to be a bit like the Models Own Polish For Tans collection, but they're not really and although they have the pastel neon thing in common, Polish For Tans are brighter and more pigmented. The formula of these is a bit fiddly - I think I'd have been better off applying them over a white base. Another thing I've noticed about thesm is they seem to have different names in the US!

Sun Flare is a pastel neon peach, which leans ever so slightly more orange in real life. This is a gorgeous colour, but slightly streaky so you'll need 3 coats. It dries semi-matte, so I've applied some glossy top coat.

Coral Heat is a coral pink, I'm hesitant to say neon because it's not quite that bright. This is a bit more pigmented than the others, I've used 2 coats and top coat.

Chic Chartreuse is a neon pastel lime, leaning towards yellow. The formula here was a bit of a pain, I needed 3 coats and top coat to even it out. This also dries semi-matte.

I'm not overly impressed with these, the formula isn't the best, but there's a couple of nice colours in the collection and I think I'd have had better luck if I'd applied them over a white base. You live and learn!

My Picks: Sun Flare

  1. Hm, I'm surprised that you've got all 7 in the UK as well. We only got 4 (peach, pink, green and coral) in Germany.

But you even manage to make the peach one looking nice!

  3. I really like the colours but from the sounds of it I'd make such a mess with them

  5. Great swatches! I think I prefer these to the MO polish for tans because they are more muted - I'm not really a fan of neon polishes! I think my favourite is coral heat! It's annoying that the formula isn't' great for these, I have a couple of Maybelline polishes (Iced Queen and Urban Turquoise) and they have a great formula, maybe it's just this collection itself? :)

  7. I found them at a local store and wasn't completely sold on them...Now that I see your swatches I regret not buying them, but since formula isn't that good maybe it's better that way.

  8. Lovely pastel colours, though I have bad experience with Maybelline polishes.
