Is everyone having a good weekend? (Bank holiday, if you're in the UK!) I'm having a quiet one as I'm feeling grumpy with a sore throat. Will there ever be a nice tasting Lemsip!? Continuing on with Spring/Summer releases, today I have the 2015 Brights collection from OPI to share with you! The collection consists of 3 cremes, 2 shimmers and a glitter topper (which I love!)
To be honest I'm not quite sure why this collection is called Brights, because well, they're not really bright! Last year's brights, the 2014 Neons, are a world away from these offerings, though we do see a re-release of Life Gave Me Lemons and Down To The Core-al in this release.
Starting with the shimmers, Can't Hear Myself Pink is a pink, foily shimmer with a hint of gold visible in low lighting. You can just about see a touch of it towards my cuticles. This is quite sheer but easily buildable. Shown is 3 coats plus top coat
I Sea You Wear OPI is a blue shimmer, very glassy in some lights and super pretty. The formula is the same as above, I used 3 coats plus top coat
The Berry Thought Of You is a berry pink creme and probably the only one that could be considered in any way bright! The formula is great, the sort I expect from an OPI creme. Shown is 2 coats plus top coat
I STOP For Red is a red creme with a hint of an orange undertone. We all know I'm not a fan of red cremes in general and I'm sure there are a few others others out there similar to this. The formula is leaning towards jelly territory, I needed 3 coats to cover VNL but it's easy to apply.
My Car Has Navy-Gation is a navy blue creme. I'm a bit confused at the inclusion of this, it couldn't get much further from a bright! The formula isn't too great, the first coat is streaky and I needed 3 to even it out. Shown is 3 plus top coat
On Pinks & Needles is a glitter topper with neon pink, multi-sized hex glitters. I love this one! There's a good amount of glitter and it's easy to apply. I used 1 coat plus top coat over My Car Has Navy-Gation with a bit of dabbing to fill in gaps. I really like the combination!
The only thing I'm not keen on is the large glitters, they're just a bit too big for my liking (you can see one on my middle nail) but they're easy enough to pick out.
As a whole this collection doesn't excite me very much, the colours are a bit random and they don't have a spring/summer feel to them at all. The saving grace is On Pinks & Needles, it's good to see mainstream brands embrace the indie-feel of glitters like this. Are there any colours you love here?
My Picks: On Pinks & Needles, The Berry Thought Of You

I love that glitter so much! And it stands out so well against the blue base ♥. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deborah, I was surprised how well they went together!
DeleteThe shimmers are my favorites! The cremes are not very exciting, and not unique. But I do think that the red one with the jelly-ish formula looks great! And all you swatches are stunning, as always!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Bella! <3
DeleteOoo these are gorgeous, definitely loving I Sea You Wear OPI and On Pinks & Needles. :D
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! Had already drooled over them on Instagram this morning ;)
ReplyDeleteOn Pinks & Needles is def my favourite and I love the colour you paired it with - perfect!!!
On Pinks & Needles was my favourite too. I also think it's such an odd mix of a collection, if you can even call it a collection, it's a bit like they just mashed a few colours they created together, but oh well!
ReplyDeleteI know OPI has a lot of reds, and it seems everyone whinges about them, but heck! They're always so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAs a whole, I don't feel like the collection is fluent within itself, it seems a little obscure to have a red in there.
You're swatches though, WOW, so beautiful!
While I agree that these aren't especially bright, I am loving some of the shades! I STOP For Red is my go-to this season! :)
ReplyDeleteYour swatches are beautiful! I am intrigued by the glitter I think, but I agree...the rest seem a bit tame for a "brights" collection.
ReplyDeleteAren't the first 2 very close to the BarryM Ltd summer release last year xx
ReplyDeleteNot really, the pink Barry M is darker with hardly any shimmer, and the blue Barry M is much more turquoise, again with not much shimmer. There's swatches on my blog somewhere of the Barry M if you want to compare! x
DeleteWow! Perfect swatches!
