Press Sample
As you read this I'm having a little weekend away with friends, scenery and cocktails! I very much doubt I'll want to come home, but alas ;) Today I'm taking a peek inside this month's Birchbox, and it's an extra special one - the theme is "Free Your Mind" and comes with a customisable box, plus the chance to pick your own full-size product from WAH London, so it's ideal for nail obsessives!
If you're unfamiliar with Birchbox, it's a monthly subscription box which contains a selection of beauty and lifestyle products (samples with the odd full size product) that's delivered straight to your door. Admittedly I'm unfamiliar with subscription boxes so I'm glad to have a chance to try one out!
Of course the first thing I noticed was the lovely box, it's just calling out to be coloured in (that's the point, after all!) and as someone who uses colouring in as a stress buster it's appreciated! The products inside the box are packaged in this cute drawstring pouch, which would make a really nice weekend wash/makeup bag
Let's see what's inside...
1. WAH London press on nails
As part of the pick-your-sample campaign, new subscribers can choose which full size WAH product they want to receive in their box. Choose from a nail art pen, nail polish or press on nails. As my box is a press sample I didn't choose, and I received the press on nails. Unfortunately my nails are too much of an odd shape for press ons, but the WAH ones are some of the nicest ones I've seen - I love the design on these.
2. RMK Point Make-Up Remover 50ml (full size price £20)
Very fancy looking make-up remover, the liquid in the top half of the bottle is blue and the bottom half is clear! I'm always happy to try a new make-up remover and this promises to easily remove heavy-duty make-up and waterproof mascara.
3. Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rouge 1.7g (full size price £21)
Moisturising matte lippy, I gave this a quick try and it's so smooth and pigmented! I love the packaging and the application wand is nice and soft.
4. Number 4 Lumiere d'Hiver Resconstructing Masque 7.5ml (full size price £36)
This is only a small sachet and is listed as an extra beauty bonus. It's a reconstructing hair masque which my terrible split ends could really use - I'll definitely be trying this one out!
5. Parlor by Jeff Chastain Moisturising Sea Salt Spray 30ml (full size price £17)
This one is a Birchbox exclusive brand so you won't find it in any other sub boxes. I've tried many sea salt sprays in my time, and none have had much effect on my hair, so I'm dubious but I'll be giving it a try. If all else fails, it does smell deliciously good (like peaches and freshly cut grass, which sounds odd but it's lovely!)
6. Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Tinted Moisturiser in Light 15ml (full size price £27)
I'm a huge fan of tinted moisturiser and I wear it day-to-day rather than full blown foundation, and I've heard good things about Caudalie!
As a little extra, they've included a little box of coloured pencils to colour your box with. Very cute touch!
I'm not a seasoned pro when it comes to beauty subscription boxes but all in all I really like this box, I plan on trying every product in it (with the exception of the press ons, but I could have chosen something else if it wasn't a press sample) and I'll be keeping the box itself plus the draw string pouch, so to me this one at least is worth the price. I love the idea of monthly beauty boxes because it's a great way to find out about new brands and be introduced to brands you otherwise might never have tried, plus who doesn't love getting post!?
Have you ever tried Birchbox (you have no idea of the amount of times I've accidentally typed bitchbox during this post) or another subscription box? I'd love to hear your experiences!
Availability
Birchbox is available in 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions, or you can purchase individually for £10 plus £2.95 P&P (monthly rebill, cancel at any time) Find out more on the subscribe page and if you're a bit lost, have a read of the how it works page!
I also love the design of the press on nails! I wouldn't wear press ons, but the design is easy to reproduce with diamond shaped glitter ;-)
ReplyDeleteTrue, it's good inspiration!
