Models Own Peach Puff + Nubar 2010

Hi! :) I'm up late making a post because it's too hot to sleep! Yes, in England! I have no idea why it's so hot when it's about to be November. I don't like it though, I'm purely an Autumn/Winter weather kind of person.

Also, I will definitely be having a giveaway when I hit 50 followers, it won't be anything too special because I'm desperately trying to save money for Christmas, but it'll be open to all :)

On to the polish! This is Peach Puff, from Models Own.

Nude peachy shades are perfect for this time of year, and I think this one is becoming my go-to polish for when I'm not sure what to wear. It really is nice, I promise if you buy it, you will love it! The formula is quite thin and I needed three coats, but somebody who is better at application than I am might get away with two.

After a little bit of wear I decided to add a coat of Nubar 2010, which is a gorgeous clear polish full of duo chrome flakies. I'm so glad I bought it, it looks SO pretty. It was a little hard to capture on camera in it's full glory, as flakies tend to be.

You can get an idea of how nice it is though. This was only one coat and its packed with flakies.

I added a couple of slices of Fimo, just to make it cute!

As its officially Friday in the UK, I hope everyone has a great weekend. :)

New Models Own polishes!

Models Own announced five new polishes today, to launch this November.

Called The Beetlejuice Collection (yay!!) This is how they're described:

GOLDEN GREEN - A fresh energetic acid
PINKY BROWN - A warm, rusty pink
PURPLE BLUE - A vibrant punch of fuchsia indigo
AQUA VIOLET - A true sky shimmer
EMERALD BLACK - A bold-blackened midnight peacock.

Each bottle contains four pearlescent colours mixed into one gleaming shade, and the complex colour-shifting, with flashes of vivid tones and ethereal hues, gives a shimmering duo chrome finish.

Priced at £5 each and available early November, exclusively at http://modelsownit.com

So excited for these! I think Aqua Violet looks the best, but Golden Green looks a little like Chanel Peridot.

Rimmel Your Majesty Swatches

I'm thinking of having a 50 follower giveaway, since I seem to be close to that amount now. I have no idea when (or, indeed, if!) I'll hit 50, because I have no idea how to drum up more followers, but I'll announce the giveaway when it happens. I've never done one before so I hope I don't mess it up! Any tips? help?

On to the polish. This is one of my favourites from my collection, I always seem to be using it in nail art and just on days when I'm too lazy to do something creative!

Your Majesty is a fabulous silver foil. Very shimmery and beautiful, it really stands out.

The formula is wonderful and applies like a dream. My pictures are two coats, no top coat. I find it seems to be pretty hard wearing, even without a top coat. The only thing is, it takes a little while to dry thoroughly, but it's only £2.99/8ml so who can complain? Anybody else have a favourite foil they'd recommend?

Bonus picture of the polishes I bought last week:

17-  Magnetized Blue, Rimmel - Sunshine, ORLY - Fowl Play, Nubar - 2010.

Revlon Facets of Fuchsia Swatches

Ah, here we have it, the Bad Romance dupe. I don't actually own the Deborah Lippmann so I can't do a comparison, but from what I've seen on Google image search, they do look pretty much identical. Does anybody own Bad Romance? Do you think there are any differences?

I love love LOVE this polish. The fuchsia and black are just so pretty together. It's packed with square glitter and hexagons, in a black jelly base.

I used two coats and a topcoat in my pictures, the black base is pretty sheer. It would probably be a good idea to layer it over a plain black base, it might just make it pop more.

I added a layer of matte topcoat, because I just LOVE matte glitter (I say it all the time, but it really is one of my favourite things!) and I loved the result

Definitely going on my favourites list!

You can get this polish from Boots for £6.49 (compared to £16 for Bad Romance) in their current 3 for 2 offer, or £4.49 in Superdrug. I swear, the Boots 3 for 2 offer will be the death of me!

17 Magnetized Nail Polish Swatches

So, Boots brand 17 have come out with their own magnetized polish. I picked up a bottle to try out, since I've never tried magnetized nails before. Colours available are teal, lilac, gunmetal and blue. I chose the latter.

The colour itself is a metallic, shimmery blue with flashes of purple. It looks really nice on it's own before you've even used the effect! The magnet is attached to the top of the lid, you just pull it off to use it (see below) which is good, because if it was a separate entity I would almost certainly lose it.

All you do is apply a thick layer (thin layers do not work, as I found) and hold the magnet over it, close but not touching. Maybe not too close as the polish likes to jump towards the magnet!

I'm sure you could create more interesting designs if you moved the magnet around a bit, but I just held it still. I messed up on my middle finger a little. The formula of the polish itself it super easy to apply, I only needed one (quite thick) coat.

I love the effect it creates, and it was so easy to do. It's available in boots for £5.99/10ml, which is a bit expensive for a 17 product, but I think it's worth it.

Illamasqua Kink Swatches

Hello! Here's a polish from last week's mini haul, Kink by Illamasqua, from 2011's Theatre of The Nameless collection. I wish I could have got all the polishes from the collection, but I could only afford one (£13.50 a bottle!) I decided on Kink, because I thought it was a nice shade for autumn/winter.

Kink is a deep racing green. The formula was quite thick, but 2-3 coats were still needed to even it out. In the pictures I'm wearing two coats, no top coat. The special thing about these polishes is they have a rubber-look finish. I was sceptical at first but it does actually look pretty rubber-like!

Above - sunlight, Below - shade.

Overall I was quite happy with this polish, it's different and I like this particular shade of green. Anybody else own any polishes from this collection?

Barry M Cyan Blue Swatches

Another blue today. Matches my mood! I still haven't swatched much lately, been having new windows put on my house so I've been distracted, but hopefully this week I'll get something done.

This is another gorgeous Barry M. Not easy to photograph, it's a very bright, rich colour.

Lovely manageable formula. Glides on easily and is opaque in two coats. It's such a stunning blue, it reminds me of the sea in those pictures of impossibly beautiful tropical places. As for finish, I'd say it was somewhere between a jelly and a creme, like a lot of Barry M seems to be.

Collection 2000 Show Off - Swatches

This is a polish from the Collection 2000 Hot Looks range. Unfortunately, I only managed to get one picture of it because it's such a dull day. It's going to be a bit difficult for me to take pictures of anything for a while, because of the wonderful British Autumn/Winter. Dull dull dull!

Now, I'm not the biggest fan of Collection 2000 polishes, purely because I find they don't have much staying power. I still occasionally buy some though, because the Hot Looks range does have some lovely colours.

Show Off is a nice sea blue shimmer which really pops in the sunlight (excuse my horribly short nails) and the formula is really nice, it glides on like butter and is opaque in two coats. Like I said though, it does chip very easily and the brush is a bit thick and cheaply made, but for £1.79 a bottle, you can't really complain.

Also, I'm working on my first nail wheel after they finally arrived in the post. I find it so therapeutic yet sometimes infuriating! I have 5/18 done so far, and I'll be posting it when I'm finished.

New Barry M Crackle

This arrived in my inbox today. I must admit, I don't use crackle very often anymore, but I like the look of Purple Rain so I'll probably pick that up.

Mini Haul

I went on a little shopping trip today and picked these up. I know some people dislike haul posts, but personally I love them...I love seeing what people have bought!

L-R: Illamasqua - Kink, GOSH - Purple Heart, M&S - Rainbow, M&S - Bright Aqua, Revlon - Facets of Fuschia.

I was excited to get the Illamasqua polish, since it's the first time I've actually seen an Illamasqua counter anywhere! I was also glad I finally located Facets of Fuschia, although they didn't have any of the other new Revlon glitters. M&S Rainbow looks to be a holo, so I can't wait to try that out.

OPI Skull & Glossbones + Nail Art

Skull & Glossbones is part of OPI's 2011 Pirates of The Caribbean Collection. Now, I think this is a polish that has been swatched a million times by a million people, but it's one of my favourites in my collection, so I'm going to do it anyway! I love using it as a base for nail art, or just on its own. It's one of those "anytime" polishes that can be worn whenever, because it's neutral and goes with everything.

The colour is a very light, creme grey. I find it applies a little streaky, but after 2-3 coats you'll have an even, glossy finish. The colour is slightly darker in the shade (see below).

I added a bit of completely random nail art when I got bored.

The green is Rimmel - Green With Envy, and the blue is Collection 2000 - Show Off

Models Own Green Flash Swatches

Hi! I've been gone for a few days, but me and my nub nails are back. I've decided to post this swatch I did a couple of weeks ago, because I love it, but somehow managed to forget about it, so here it is.

Green Flash is the same finish as Mystic Mauve, metallic and foil-like. It also has elements of shimmer and flashes silver in the sunlight.  The formula was easy to deal with and I used two coats, no top coat.

You can really see the silver shimmer in the light, whereas in the shade (below) it's a deeper green.

It really is lovely! I've been posting a lot of Models Own lately due to my haul, but I might do a couple of other brands for my next posts. I need a bit of a change!

Models Own Peach Sherbet Swatches

I'm having a very bad nail week, I've got to nub my good hand because all of the nails have cracked and split! Not happy! One has broken almost half way down. I really don't know what to do with my nails, nothing works, I've tried so many strengtheners. I'd be grateful of any tips/recommendations. So this is the last post before they get nubbed and I have icky short stubby nails.

This is a really nice peach from Models Own. I think it makes a nice base for nail art, but I was feeling too lazy to do any.

It wasn't as nude as I was expecting but I still quite like it. It needs around 3 coats to get an even finish. The formula was nice and manageable, as with most Models Own polishes.

I may redo this in the future with some Konading!
