OPI Fifty Shades of Grey Collection Swatches and Review
Press Sample
Now, I'm not going to lie to you and say I'm a fan of the book or that I'll be seeing the film, because I won't be. But, whatever your opinion on the franchise of Fifty Shades of Grey, you can't deny it's popularity. OPI have created a limited edition collection to go along with the release of the film, and as a huge fan of grey polishes, I was excited to get my hands on it!
The collection consists of 3 grey cremes, a red creme, a silver foil and silver glitter, so there's quite a lot going on here. It's not often you see such a mixed bag!
Cement The Deal is the lightest grey creme in the collection, with an ever-so-slight blue undertone (to my eyes, at least) this is a lovely shade, if not very exciting. The formula is great, I've used 2 coats plus top coat.
Embrace The Gray (why is this spelt gray and not grey!?) is a few shades darker than Cement The Deal, but I can still see those slight blue undertones. Again the formula is good, this is 2 coats plus top coat.
Dark Side Of The Mood is a charcoal grey creme. I really love this colour but the formula is disappointing; I expected it to be nice and pigmented but unfortunately it's pretty thin and watery. I used 3 coats plus top coat
Romantically Involved is a sultry dark red creme. The formula is great here, perfect in 2 coats and it's super glossy even without top coat (but I added some anyway!) as you probably know, red cremes are far from my favourite, but there's something lovely about this.
My Silk Tie is a pretty run of the mill silver foil. It's a bit prone to brush strokes so be sure to do your second coat with a light touch! This is 2 coats, no top coat.
Lastly, Shine For Me is a bit of a strange foil/glitter combination - tiny blue glitters in a shiny foil-like base. The first coat is a bit sheer but it builds up easily, I'm wearing 3 coats plus top coat (I'd recommend using top coat because it dries a bit gritty) I wasn't sold on this at first, but it's grown on me!
It's not an overly exciting collection but there's a few shades in here worth buying, the only disappointment really is the formula of Dark Side Of The Mood!
My picks: Cement The Deal & Embrace The Gray

Those are all so beautiful! I am in love with all of the shades!
ReplyDeleteThey're pretty nice aren't they? I just wish the dark grey had a better formula!
DeleteI'm definitely picking up the mini set. The shades are stunning. I especially like the last one x

Shine For Me is absolutely stunning :-)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm starting to love it!
DeleteBeautiful colors and great swatches
ReplyDeleteThis collection looks really good! Especially loving the grey shades. ^_^
ReplyDeleteMeeehh I don't like this collection, too much gray. The only one I like is The Dark Side of The Mood. And this is the one with the bad formula. Anyway, great swatches :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to order the mini set. Amazing swatches as usual :) I'm SO excited for the OPI Hawaii collection, another set to add to the list when it's released :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's spelled gray because that's the US spelling of grey.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, all the greys - gorgeous!
