Some Kind of Colour Blocking

Does this class as colour blocking? I have no idea. This is just what I ended up with after staring at a grey base for a while! I can't get enough of using light grey and nude bases in nail art.

Base colour is Sally Hansen Ion. I taped off a few parts of each nail with some striping tape, then painted over some random sections with Essie Bikini So Teeny and Topshop Green Room, before carefully removing the tape with some tweezers. I finished with a top coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.

Feeling Grey.

I'm really getting back into my stamping plates lately. Whether it'll last remains to be seen! I have a love/hate relationship with stamping. I love how it looks and how you can achieve perfect patterns that you couldn't do freehand, but getting the stamp to cover my nails is always a problem. They JUST about fit lengthways if I position them perfectly! I often have to scrub off and start again. It's always a relief when I only have my little finger to go, it's so easy to stamp on that one!!

Here I've started with a base of Barry M Grey, and created a gradient using China Glaze Icicle and a make-up sponge. I used Konad White and Bundle Monster plate 322 for the stamp.

ORLY Miss Conduct - Swatches

Miss Conduct is from the ORLY Naughty or Nice holiday 2012 collection. This is one of those polishes that I had to have as soon as I saw it! It's just so pretty! It's a magenta pink with loads of scattered holo.

Unfortunately my lamp didn't capture it in all it's glory. You need to get this in the sunlight to really see it pop, the scattered holo is gorgeous. It still looks great even in artificial light, though!

Formula is great, full coverage in 2 coats.

I got mine from eBay, but I've seen this floating around in TK Maxx in the UK, in a cute little ORLY set, so grab it if you see it!

New Spring/Summer launches from Barry M - Nail Art Pens and Nail Paint Corrector Pen!

Barry M announced some new products today (they're spoiling us lately!) which includes nail art pens! They come in black, silver, white and pink. I've never been able to get the hang of nail art pens I've used in the past, so I'm hoping I get on okay with these ones!

From Barry M: "Decorate your nails with Barry M’s Nail Art Pens! The extra fine tip and easy grip bottle means you can design with ease. Simply shake the bottle well before use and pump the tip until the colour starts to flow"

They also announced a nail paint corrector pen! I wonder if this will be good for getting a clean line around your cuticles?

From Barry M: "Tidy up your mani with Barry M’s melon scented, acetone-free Nail Paint Corrector Pen. It’s easy to use and comes with 2 replacement tips"

The pens and corrector pen will be available at Superdrug from April 10th, and Boots from April 17th! All priced at £4.99 each.

I will have a review of these up soon. Will you be trying them? Do you use nail art pens often?
